We received an ASUS GTX 960 STRIX OC Edition a week ago under NDA and are still benching for this review.
In the meantime, here is what we call the “Big Picture” which will compare the $209 – just released and slightly overclocked – ASUS STRIX GTX 980 OC with the GTX 760, the GTX 770 and the GTX 980.
In addition, we compare the R9 280X which is a class or two higher than this newly released card; its main competition being the less powerful and comparably priced R9 280 and R9 285.
The Big Picture
This evaluation will be completed today as benching results for the GTX 660 will be added along with stock GTX 960 results. The above chart will not only be expanded, it will be subdivided into smaller charts for easier comparisons. We shall also unbox the new ASUS GTX 960 OC and discuss Maxwell architecture and the features of this new card.
And we see interesting results indeed! AMD is being squeezed as it’s 280X – originally released as the HD 7970 GE, a $500 3GB and expensive card to make – is being threatened by Nvidia’s new 128-bit $200 GTX 960.
Happy Gaming!
