Bungie is giving players an early opportunity to step into Marathon with the upcoming Server Slam, running from February 26 at 10 a.m. PT through March 2 at 10 a.m. PT. The limited-time open preview will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

The Server Slam will not require a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription, lowering the barrier for players who want to jump in. The event will also be featured as part of Xbox Free Play Days and Steam Next Fest, making it widely accessible across platforms.

What to Expect During the Server Slam

The preview offers players an introduction to Marathon’s core gameplay loop, featuring a limited selection of maps, Runner shells, and contracts. Bungie has confirmed that additional maps, factions, contracts, and gear will roll out at launch and throughout Season 1.

While this is not the full game experience, it serves as a hands-on look at the world of Tau Ceti IV before the official release.

Earn Launch Rewards Early

Players who participate in — or even watch — the Server Slam can earn rewards that will carry over into the full launch on March 5. These incentives include tiered gear packages, cosmetic Twitch Drops, and additional bonuses designed to reward early engagement.

For competitive players and collectors alike, the event provides a head start ahead of release.

New Marathon Merch Available

Alongside the Server Slam, Bungie is launching new items from the Marathon Collection [001] on the Bungie Store starting February 26 at 10 a.m. PT. The collection includes:

Players can also pre-order Marathon through the Marathon Collector’s Edition via the Bungie Store.

About Marathon

In Marathon, players take on the role of bio-cybernetic Runners scavenging the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV. Survival means battling hostile security forces, rival Runners, and unpredictable environmental threats in pursuit of fortune.

Marathon launches March 5 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam in Standard and Deluxe editions, featuring full cross-play and cross-save support.

With just days before launch, the Server Slam offers players a final opportunity to test their skills and earn rewards before Bungie’s latest sci-fi shooter goes live.
