New Expansion, Core Updates, and Raid Highlight the Start of the Year of Prophecy
Today marks a monumental moment for Destiny 2 as Bungie officially launches The Edge of Fate, the first expansion in the Year of Prophecy and the beginning of the ambitious new narrative arc known as the Fate Saga.
A Journey into the Unknown Begins on Kepler
Now available, The Edge of Fate propels Guardians into the uncharted realm of Kepler, a brand-new destination split into four sprawling regions filled with dark secrets, dangerous foes, and world-changing mysteries. Players will face a primordial threat that predates the Traveler, with help from Lodi, a mysterious ally, and Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard.
Core to the experience are Kepler-specific traversal abilities:
- Matterspark: Allows Guardians to become a high-speed energy sphere
- Mattermorph: Enables environmental manipulation through dark matter and Strand
- Relocator Cannon: Uses Fallen tech to teleport across terrain
New Difficulty System: World Tiers
The campaign now features a World Tier system with difficulties ranging from Brave and Legendary to newly unlocked Fabled and Mythic tiers, offering scalable challenges and enticing rewards for return playthroughs.

Core Game Revamps Available to All Players
Bungie also released a host of free core game updates, ushering in a more accessible and rewarding gameplay structure:
- The Portal: A new user interface for seamless activity access
- Solo Ops: Compact, story-driven activities built for solo play
- Armor 3.0: Set bonuses, revamped stats, and expanded mod systems
- 50+ Modifiers: Enhance gameplay depth and customize difficulty
