Bungie has officially unveiled the roadmap for Destiny 2: Renegades, the highly anticipated expansion created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Inspired by Star Wars™, the expansion is set to launch next week on December 2, 2025.
During a dedicated Developer Livestream hosted today, the team premiered both the official Launch Trailer and a new ViDoc titled “Making of a Renegade.” These videos highlight the creative process behind this unique crossover, showcasing an all-new Destiny 2 experience that pays clear homage to the Star Wars universe.
New Weapons: Lightsabers and Blasters
Renegades introduces an arsenal of new gear that will feel very familiar to sci-fi fans. The standout addition is the Praxic Blade, a Kinetic Exotic Sword inspired by lightsabers. This weapon features multiple customization paths that meaningfully impact gameplay, alongside earnable cosmetics that alter the blade’s color.
The expansion also debuts a completely new weapon archetype: Blasters. These weapons utilize a heat-based firing and reload system, replacing traditional magazines.
Bungie confirmed the following Exotics will arrive with the expansion:
- Kinetic Sword: Praxic Blade (inspired by lightsabers)
- Solar Crossbow: Heirloom (inspired by Chewbacca’s iconic weapon)
- Strand Machine Gun: Service of Luzaku
- Warlock Helmet: Deimosuffusion
- Hunter Legs: Fortune’s Favor
- Titan Chest: Praxic Vestment
The Lawless Frontier & New Factions
The livestream dove deep into the “Lawless Frontier,” a new activity designed for scalable challenges and high replayability. This mode introduces a Notoriety system where players build reputation by completing jobs—including Smuggling runs, Bounty Hunts, and Sabotage operations—for three distinct Syndicate factions:
- The Pikers: An anarchist, atheist Eliksni biker gang seeking to build a society free from traditional hierarchy.
- Tharsis Reformation: A breakaway sect of sentient Vex driven by a desire to experience personal identity.
- Totality Division: A rogue branch of the Barant Imperium Cabal, operating as a Syndicate on Mars and ruled by Psions.
The update features new maps expanding across Mars, Europa, and Venus. It also introduces an opt-in Invasion mode, allowing a Guardian to spawn into another player’s field to disrupt progress for unique rewards. To combat these threats, Guardians can upgrade and deploy specific “Renegades Abilities”—offensive, defensive, and support tools that bend the rules of combat within the Lawless Frontier.
Equilibrium Dungeon & Pre-Order Details
Looking ahead, the new dungeon, Equilibrium, will launch on December 13, 2025, at 9:00 AM PT. Fans can watch the official Dungeon Race stream featuring Evanf1997 and CBGray starting at 6:00 AM PT that morning.
