What's happening at BTR *17*
#41
Thank-you.

Andy just came through with a *massive* CES 2019 Wrap-up with over 60 images.  I am uploading them now and will post them sometime tonight.

See - I didn't have to bother with CES this year.  I got my cake and am eating it now (while benching; messy, I know).

I also figured out how to stream Pluto.tv free movies from my notebook to my LG smart tv.  And I got a 90 day free trial of Pandora Premium - so I am catching up on movies and on music while I work and am trapped inside.

Oh, good .. the rain just broke ... Sunny I can walk to the mailbox now.

More rain expected here tonight and tomorrow.

It's official. BTR is a media partner with AMD. That doesn't mean we will get a Radeon 7, but it's a great step in the right direction.

I met with Logitech today and BTR will also be a media partner with them also. I really like their mice better than any other I have used. I'll be reviewing the new Pro Gaming headset next. I know the Logitech presenter pretty well from trade shows and it was great to catch up with him.

Tomorrow expect a 417.17 driver performance analysis. It looks solid and I found no issues with the drivers. Recommended.

The site is really taking off. Congrats apoppin.

Logitech makes really nice stuff. Their mice in particular. I don’t like their Romer-G switch keyboards. But some people do. YMMV.

Thank-you. I have a wireless Logitech KB+mouse that I love. Their wireless is the best IMO. And I am getting their headset tomorrow. It's the G Pro.

EVGA is sending me their $250 sound card for review also; so it's pretty good timing. I mentioned that I don't have a good modern amp (although I have very good speakers, multiple headsets, and Grado headphones) and EVGA are evidently sending an amp along also.

So I will post my GeForce driver performance analysis this evening and then get to work preparing to review a new audio card and new headset. It will be a good change of pace for me from graphics-related.

I don't think I will be getting another RTX 2060 for review .. which is OK. I have my review queue completely full again

Incremental changes with 471.71 and also support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR - "FreeSync") displays.

I'm kind of pleasantly shocked that nVidia has enabled FreeSync on their cards.

Well it is an open standard . . . and why not? From looking at reddit, some FS displays work well, others don't. Nvidia moved a little slower than gamers would probably have liked, but it is to Nvidia's advantage to remove one of the last remaining real plusses that Radeon gamers had - that FS is a lot cheaper than Gsync. Now anyone with a high quality adaptive sync can use a GeForce card. Low quality displays won't work well, but then they never did with Radeons either evidently.

I got the Logitech G Pro headset and should have a new review up tomorrow night. It sounds good in MP games. I am testing my mic with Mario later on to see if it is decent in a noisy environment and how clear it is. I don't think I love any headset for music, however.
